Didier Deschamps tipped for Everton job as Frank Lampard may be sacked – Chris Sutton

Chris Sutton reckons France World Cup-winning manager Didier Deschamps could be in line for the Everton job should Frank Lampard be sacked.

Everton sit in a precarious position in the Premier League table and are just one point above the dreaded drop zone with Lampard at the helm.

Sutton confessed that the Blues are a “strange” club when it comes to managerial appointments and if results don’t improve Lampard may be looking over his shoulder.

“Now Frank Lampard will be the one looking over his shoulder,” said Sutton as quoted by MailSport.

“Everton are a strange club. They’ve hired managers who have been there and done it, such as Carlo Ancelotti and Rafa Benitez, but they couldn’t get a tune out of the players.

“Lampard needs a strong start when the season resumes on Boxing Day, especially as they face relegation rivals Wolves.

“From speaking with Everton fans, they’re still willing Lampard to do well. But that can change if results don’t improve. Fancy it, Didier?”

Deschamps, you say?

Deschamps is a retired French football player and current manager of the French national team, why wouldn’t the Blues look at him?

He is one of only three people to have won the FIFA World Cup both as a player and a manager, Deschamps played for clubs such as Nantes, Marseille, and Juventus during his playing career, winning numerous domestic and international titles.

The classy manager also represented France at the international level, earning over 100 caps and winning the World Cup in 1998 and the European Championship in 2000.

After retiring as a player in 2001, Deschamps began his managerial career, managing clubs such as Monaco, Juventus, and Marseille, leading them to domestic and international success.

Deschamps is known for his ability to get the best out of his players and his attention to detail, he is also respected for his leadership and ability to manage a diverse group of players, something the Toffees could profit from.

That being said, a switch for Deschamps is slightly far-fetched, but who would have thought Carlo Ancelotti would have ever managed Everton?
