Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford considers Goodison Park exit amid lack of trophy hunger

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford reportedly believes that the club do not have the appetite to compete for silverware in the future.

According to Give Me Sport journalist Simon Phillips, he wants to win trophies and does not see that happening at Goodison Park.

The England number one is considering his future at the club as he wants to challenge at the top in the coming seasons.

Everton

Phillips told Give Me Sport, “Pickford is at that stage now where he’s thinking about his next move. He’s thinking about his future.

“He wants to challenge at the top, he wants to have a go at winning trophies. At the moment, he doesn’t think he’s going to do that at Everton.”

Tough to keep him

If Pickford has made up his mind to leave and compete for trophies, there’s little anyone can do to convince him to stay.

Everton cannot suddenly tell him that they’ve become a club that can spend tens of millions every year in order to get them to that level.

Pickford has proven with England that he can be the man for the big occasions and he may not want to end his career without winning a single trophy.

That means a move to a Champions League club in England or one of the top European clubs cannot really be ruled out.

The Toffees would hate to see him go but would demand crazy money in order to part ways with him and then those funds can be reinvested into the first team.

The Toffees may also consider his sale if the right price is offered so we cannot completely rule out an exit until he signs a new deal.
