Everton news as Frank Lampard pushes for one new January transfer
Everton manager Frank Lampard is urging his superiors to sign a new striker in the January transfer window to bolster his paper-thin attacking options, according to journalist Simon Phillips.
Only Wolves have failed to find the net less than the Toffees’ 11 goals in the Premier League this season, and the mutual consent of Soloman Rondon’s exit has signalled fresh faces will be brought through the Goodison Park gates.
Lampard did snap up Neal Maupay in the summer, but he has failed to hit the ground running on Merseyside in the absence of Dominic Calvert Lewin – who has been sidelined for large portions of the season.

According to journalist Phillips, the Everton boss does not believe the French forward can deliver the goals he requires and will now push hard for an alternative in the New Year.
He told GiveMeSport: “Lampard still wants to boost the midfield and he also wants a striker in January. Those are the two priorities. But the striker was still a priority in the summer even though they still had [Salomon] Rondon then.
“They didn’t have enough trust in him and Lampard didn’t really back him, so Lampard has been asking for a new striker since the summer. [Dominic] Calvert-Lewin, obviously struggling with a lot of injuries lately, so that’s another reason why Lampard is pushing hard now to bring a new striker in January.”

Desperately needed
Everton need to find a source of goals in the January transfer window and fast.
The lack of goals has become the team’s Achilles heel in the last 18 months and is one of the key reasons they are currently languishing just a point above the relegation zone.
Calvert Lewin can no longer be trusted to meet the physical demands of competitive football on a weekly basis due to his unfortunate injury record, but he can definitively still play a key part in the Toffees’ season.
The burden, however, must be taken off his shoulders, and a new signing would allow him to take his time in rehab and fully recover from his injury, which he has been nursing over the World Cup break.
It doesn’t matter how much it costs, but Lampard and Moshiri can’t sleepwalk their way through yet another Everton transfer window and hope there is enough quality in this squad to avoid relegation. Action needs to be taken in the New Year.
