Richard Keys drops financial trouble claim as he urges Everton to sign Conor Coady

Richard Keys believes that Everton aren’t securing the permanent signing of Wolves owned defender Conor Coady because of financial trouble.

The Toffees signed him over the summer on loan with an option to buy, but haven’t exercised it yet despite him being a regular starter for them.

Frank Lampard has said that he would like to make it permanent but has gone on record to claim that it is not happening right now.

Via Twitter, Keys wrote, “At only £4m – why haven’t Everton made Coady’s move permanent in order that he could play today? They’ve said they want to sign him – so do it. Or does their decision not to underline how deep their financial problems really are?”

After January perhaps?

We do think that the plans are to offer him a permanent contract and that could be contingent on Premier League survival.

That’s probably why nothing has materialised thus far, and the longer Everton are in relegation trouble the longer this will be kicked down the road.

Coady has already made a mark at Everton and is loved by the dressing room and the fans have also been impressed with his performances.

Alongside James Tarkowski, he’s made this Toffees defence stronger than it’s been in recent years and Lampard also deserves credit for this.

However, as long as he’s not signed a permanent deal, there still is going to be speculation about him perhaps wanting to leave.

Keys needs to calm down as we do not think the Toffees cannot afford to pay that amount and it’s probably more on what Coady wants.
