Everton dealt major blow in transfer pursuit of forward Viktor Gyokeres
Everton have been dealt a major blow in their transfer pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres after Coventry City manager Mark Robins revealed the club’s stance on the forward.
90min had reported on 28 December that Everton and a host of other Premier League clubs were interested in signing the Swede in January.
Robins confessed that there is “absolutely no chance” of Gyokeres leaving the Sky Blues in January in a crushing blow to the Blues’ transfer dreams.

“Viktor is going nowhere. I can tell you now he is going nowhere in January. Absolutely no chance. I’ve spoken to Vik,” said Robins as quoted by Coventry Live.
So it seems any move for the fearsome Championship forward in January may be off, will the Toffees ever find a striker to solve their woes?

Frustrating.
This is another bit of frustrating news for the Blues to digest, the Swedish striker is exactly the kind of talent the club needs right now and would have been a shrewd signing.
He’s bang in form and joint top scorer in the Championship, no easy feat and there was a strong possibility that a move to Goodison Park would have been a case of perfect timing for all parties involved.
Who next? There’s little to suggest Everton have identified another target as of yet, they have already missed out on Matheus Cunha after he made the switch to Wolves.
Hopefully, Thelwell and Lampard have another trick up their sleeve, otherwise, the Blues are leaving themselves in a heap of trouble.
It’s pretty clear to everyone what the problem is in the squad right now, there is a gaping hole open up top for the Blues and signing a new striker in January is simply essential.
