Mohammed Kudus to Everton update emerges ahead of January transfer window

Everton will struggle to sign Mohammed Kudus now as he will have “better opportunities” available to him, according to Dean Jones.

The Ghanaian international wanted to move to Goodison Park before the end of the summer transfer window, but as Ajax had already sold a number of high profile players the deal was blocked.

The Toffees have remained linked to the 22-year-old since, with The Athletic’s David Ornstein confirming the continued interest on 12 December, but after high profile performances in the Champions League and at the World Cup Jones believes that ship has now sailed.

Speaking to GIVE ME SPORT in his latest interview, the former EuroSport journalist shared what chances the Toffees stand of now getting a deal over the line.

“I don’t think they will get Kudus personally,” he said.

“There was a moment when they could have got it done but it sounds to me that it’s passed them by, to be honest. I think he’s going to have better opportunities landing.”

Blow

This is going to be a sore one for Frank Lampard and Everton. It is already a source of frustration to think of what Kudus could have contributed to the season so far had he arrived in August, and missing out altogether will compound that.

The Toffees look to have identified a very strong target before he was fully in the spotlight and came very close to securing him.

Crucially Kudus wanted the move himself, and had Manchester United not panicked in the face of their nightmare start to the season and splashed out £85million to sign Antony Everton might have got their man.

The club should of course keep their options open because if there is still a chance for them to get this deal done it definitely looks like the right kind of player to boost their flagging season.

But they can’t get caught up on him if the opportunity has gone and will need to be working towards other targets over the coming month.
