Super Computer makes bleak Everton relegation prediction ahead of Manchester City clash

Everton and Frank Lampard have a 49% chance of relegation from the Premier League this season, according to a Super Computer from FiveThirtyEight.

The Toffees sit a solitary point above the drop zone following their demoralising defeat to Wolves on Boxing Day, and they will face a stern examination against Premier League champions Manchester City on Saturday (31 December).

With eight points separating Brentford in 10th place from Southampton at the foot of the table, several teams still find themselves looking in their rear-view mirrors at the prospect of relegation.

And according to The Super Computer, Everton fans may well be in for a tough ride, with their side predicted to finish in 19th place and accumulate just 34 points.

The Super Computer believes Lampard’s team have a 49% chance of relegation and will be dropped from the top flight alongside Nathan Jones’ Southampton and Julien Lopetegui’s Wolves side.

Everton

Bleak

Following the defeat to fellow strugglers Wolves, Everton find themselves in dire straights.

The lack of goals, lack of energy, and, most worryingly, lack of effort will have been giving Toffees fans nightmares all the way through their festive celebrations, and this isn’t usually something that is a quick fix.

Whether Lampard has the quality of personnel to lead a surge up the Premier League is still unknown, but he will surely look to attack the January transfer window with some vigour to resolve their issues.

Signing a proven striker in the upcoming window is now a necessity, and transfer links with Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres are a good start. The 24-year-old is currently joint leading goal-scorer in the Championship with 12 goals from 23 appearances – and he could go a long way to fix Everton’s goal shortage.

Further experienced signings must also be made in the coming weeks if Lampard is to wake his side up from their worryingly deep slumber.
