Everton news as timeline given for potential Frank Lampard sack

Frank Lampard could be in “real trouble” in the next few weeks if results don’t turn around for Everton in the Premier League, says Simon Phillips.

The Toffees are one point above the relegation zone after a run of just one win in ten games in all competitions, which has seen fans grow nervous about another relegation battle.

And according to journalist Phillips, who was speaking to GiveMeSport (31 December), he needs to turn things around quickly to avoid losing his job in the near future.

Everton

“The discontent is starting to bubble up a little bit and Lampard needs to turn things around fast and needs to get results,” he said.

“Until he does that, there’s always going to be this concern for his future hovering above his head, because that’s just normal in Premier League football.

“In terms of the amount of time I think he’s got, I think if things don’t get better in the next few weeks, then you might see him in some real trouble then.”

Trouble

Trouble is brewing at Goodison Park and the Toffees have no idea how bad things could be getting in the next few weeks.

A game against Manchester City is followed by Brighton, then Manchester United in the FA Cup and with three more defeats in a row would no doubt have everyone biting their finger nails to the bone.

But there is still time to get things turned around if a new manager is brought in and can improve the playing style. None of that is possible though if more goals aren’t brought in to this Everton side.

The team have only scored 12 times in 16 Premier League games so far this season and their top scorers have three goals each, so that simply isn’t good enough for any team at the highest level.

Decisions need to be made and swiftly, especially with the January transfer window upon us, because if left too late there could be no way back this time after last year’s miracle survival.
