Everton news emerges as Ellis Simms recalled by Frank Lampard before Manchester City clash
News emerged late on December 30 that Frank Lampard had made the move to bring back Ellis Simms to Everton from his loan at Championship outfit Sunderland.
Simms has suffered from multiple injury setbacks this campaign, nevertheless, he has still managed to notch up seven goals for the Black Cats in their Premier League promotion charge.
Journalist Michael Walker has reported that Simms will not be part of the Sunderland squad to face Blackpool because he had been recalled by the Blues.
“Understand Ellis Simms has been recalled by Everton and will not be part of Sunderland squad at Blackpool,” said Walker on Twitter.
This seems like a bit of a panic move by Lampard and the Toffees as they struggle to find themselves a fearsome forward for a cut-price deal.

Speak volumes.
Bringing back a young forward from his loan spell when the January transfer window is about to open speaks volumes about where Everton are at right now.
Evidently, the club are under massive financial restraints if this is what they are looking at to change their fortunes in front of goal.
Simms is a solid talent, but he is also not the man to come into the fold at Goodison Park and save their season, this one just seems like an odd move.
It’s likely he’ll still only be warming the bench at the Blues too, which will be frustrating for the youngster who was gaining valuable experience at the Stadium of Light.
He isn’t ready for the Premier League yet anyway, hence why the Toffees sent him out on loan in the first place and it begs the question, where did all that Richarlison money go?
Prepare for a worrying season ahead if the club fail to find a new forward in January, it’s a problem position that needs to be solved and not by bringing back a make-shift loanee.
