Everton seriously consider bid to sign in-form striker Elye Wahi as £22.1m transfer update emerges
Everton are strongly considering a move for Montpellier striker Elye Wahi as Frank Lampard looks to kickstart his January business, according to Mediafoot.
The 19-year-old’s agent is Jorge Mendes and it’s believed the Ligue 1 club would be willing to let him depart for £22.1million in January (Mediafoot, 31 December).
Lyon are also interested in the young striker, but the Toffees’ are understood to be the club which is pushing hardest for the foward.

Needed
Failure to land a striker would be a huge blow to Everton’s Premier League survival hopes. Dominic Calvert-Lewin started against Manchester City but has really struggled for form and suffered from the same injury issues. Furthermore, Neal Maupay has also been a dissappointing addition since making the move from Brighton.
TalkSPORT had revealed (via Twitter, 28 December) the Toffees, along with Brentford and Wolves were all interested in Coventry striker Viktor Gyokeres, with the Sky Blues wanting £20million for the 24-year-old. It appears to be an area Lampard is looking to reinforce and it’s up to the board to adequately back the former Chelsea manager in the January window.

The point at Manchester City has certainly bought Lampard a little bit more time and the Toffees now face a huge game against Brighton at Goodison Park. The Seagulls will be a stern test for Lampard’s side but it’s also a great chance for Everton to build on their point at the The Etihad with a vital three points.
There simply has to be an improvement on the 2-1 defeat to Wolves in their last home fixture.
