Three players Everton should sign in January including ‘very intelligent’ Ben Brereton Diaz

The January transfer window is now open and Everton could do with some big signings to ensure they can keep themselves in the Premier League.

It is no secret that Frank Lampard could do with some attacking impetus this month with Dominic Calvert-Lewin inconsistent in form and availability and nobody picking up the baton in front of goal.

There might not be the mega-money arrival that can so often spark a turnaround in form but with the promise of Premier League football there are a couple of options the Toffees could look to bring in.

Everton

Ben Brereton Diaz

These days, it isn’t a transfer window if Ben Brereton Diaz’s name is not mentioned and this January should be no different.

Estadio Deportivo reported on 13 October that Everton were ready to rival Italian champions AC Milan for the Chilean international who could look to sign him for free at the end of the season.

Eduardo Berizzo, Chile manager, described the striker as “very intelligent” and his ability to play off the left when Calvert-Lewin is fit makes him the ideal signing if the money is on the table.

Viktor Gyokeres

If Brereton Diaz does end up costing too much for a January deal, then Everton may want to look towards the Midlands for a slightly cheaper option in Coventry City man Viktor Gyokeres.

everton

90min reported on 28 December that the Swedish talisman could cost £16million himself with the Toffees among those keen on signing him after a good start to the Championship season.

He might even be a better signing for the Premier League as he not only scores a lot of goals but does so at crucial times in games and often is the difference between victory and defeat for the Sky Blues.

Conor Coady

At the other end of the pitch, Conor Coady has been a total revelation this season alongside James Tarkowski but he is only at Goodison Park on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Liverpool Echo journalist Joe Thomas reported on 27 December that the deal to make the loan a permanent move is fairly easy to complete for Everton so they have to do that first and foremost to avoid creating a problem for themselves.
