Victor Anichebe responds as Ben Godfrey shares reaction after Everton 1-1 v Manchester City
Ben Godfrey was absolutely immense for Everton as the Toffees secured a 1-1 draw against Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday (31 December).
The Whites defender started the game against City and played the entire 90 minutes. He took to Instagram after the game to share his reaction.
Former Toffees player Victor Anichebe hailed him as “quality”, adding it’s great to have him back.

“A good point on the road, Happy new Year,” wrote Godfrey on Instagram.
“Quality bro..great to have you back,” responded Anichebe.
Strong performance
It was a decent performance from Godfrey who only returned to action after a long injury lay-off.
When fit, Godfrey is a class act, and he showed his quality against Manchester City, where he managed one tackle and one interception, as per Who Scored.
It will be interesting to see how Frank Lampard uses Godfrey from here on. Against City, the tactics were predictable.
Everton stayed solid at the back and started with a five-man defence.

They were never going to enjoy great possession, but their best chance of getting something from this game was by hitting them on the counter.
Demarai Gray scored a fantastic goal, but the Toffees’ defence deserves big credit for not allowing City to wreak havoc.
At Goodison Park, the five-man defence tactics could be seen as a negative approach, although Lampard could modify it by urging the two full-backs to play slightly up the pitch.
