Besiktas look to hold talks with Everton over Dele Alli loan termination in January
Besiktas have come to a decision to send Dele Alli back to Everton if his performances do not improve in the next few games, according to NTV Spor.
Alli, 26, joined the Turkish club on loan during the summer transfer window, but he has cut a frustrating figure and could not reach the desired level.
The Turkish club will keep £1m to be paid to Alli for the rest of the season in case they strike an agreement with the Toffees. But they are looking to hold talks with Everton in January to send Alli back to Merseyside.
Tough luck
Alli has managed two goals in 11 games for the Turkish club but they are far from happy with his effort.
The England international joined the Toffees in the previous January window on a two-and-a-half-year deal from Tottenham Hotspur on a deal that could cost up to £40million, as reported by Sky Sports [1 February].
He failed to prove his worth to Frank Lampard and was sent on loan to Besiktas last summer. His future is uncertain at the moment, as Lampard is unlikely to include him in the current system based on what he did so far, even if he returns.
Alli was destined for greatness when he bagged PFA Young player of the year for successive seasons between 2015-2017. He was a key player at Spurs under Mauricio Pochettino, but his career has gone downhill after the Argentine left the club.
There is no doubt that Alli has got loads of talent but he probably doesn’t apply enough in training. At the same time, he has played under too many managers, each bringing his own style and trying to change Alli’s game, which hasn’t helped.
If Alli returns to Everton in January, he should look to join a Championship club. His confidence is at rock bottom at the moment, and it looks like his loan move has turned into a disaster.
