Everton defender Michael Keane targeted by clubs for January loan deal

Everton defender Michael Keane is being targeted by numerous clubs for a potential loan move in January, according to Liverpool Echo journalist Joe Thomas.

Keane seems to have become surplus to requirements at Goodison Park this campaign and has only featured for 22 minutes in Frank Lampard’s side.

Thomas confessed that there are “definitely” clubs keeping an eye on Keane who may look to leave Merseyside in search of first-team football.

“There’s definitely a few clubs considering whether they can see if they can get him on loan David,” said Thomas in response to a fan on Twitter.

Everton

Another one.

Everton have made plenty of transfer blunders under the leadership of Farhad Moshiri and Keane is one of them who hasn’t lived up to his price tag.

The Blues splashed £30m on the defender and handed him a £65k-per-week contract, an astonishing amount for a player of his abilities.

During the times he has featured for Everton it never feels like Keane has really made any progress since moving to Merseyside.

Keane is well suited to a team that sits back and defends everything but under Lampard, a manager who likes his defenders to be able to play with the ball at their feet, the centre-back has struggled.

It’s time for the club to get rid of Keane and reduce their wage bill even further, there is simply no point in having a squad player on so much money.

Especially one who is going to provide little to the team from the bench either, unfortunately, this is another transfer deal that hasn’t gone to plan.
