Everton want to sign teenager Alex Scott from Bristol City in January

Everton are among half a dozen Premier League clubs, including Bournemouth, who are interested in signing Bristol City youngster Alex Scott, according to talkSPORT.

The Toffees are looking to be proactive in the January transfer window following a poor start to the Premier League season, and they have locked onto Guernsey-born Scott, who has made 25 appearances in the Championship this term.

TalkSPORT’s report states that The Robins value Scott in “excess of £10million” after earning rave reviews since making a name for himself in the first team last season.

Despite the interest Everton have shown, they will face stiff competition from Bournemouth and American billionaire Bill Foley in the January transfer window.

The 77-year-old has a net worth of £1.14 billion, and the Cherries are “interested in making Scott one of their first buys” under the new leadership. [Daily Star]

Bright talent

Everton’s midfield is in dire need of an injection of youth in the coming months, and Scott fits the bill for the profile the club could be after.

The likes of Idrissa Gueye and Abdoulaye Doucoure won’t remain at the club for too many more seasons, and James Garner hasn’t exactly set the world alight since his summer move – so some fresh legs are definitely needed.

Scott is under contract at Ashton Gate until 2025, and Nigel person recently admitted that the club wouldn’t have to sell their prized assets in order to fund incoming in a recent interview, so this could well prove a stumbling block. [Bristol Post]

However, if the Toffees were to go in hard for the starlet, the lure of the Premier League may prove too hard to resist.

The 19-year-old has proven himself a revelation in the Robins’ midfield this campaign and has already picked up five assists from central midfield.
