Owen Hargreaves reacts after Everton and Liverpool stat emerges after Brentford win in Premier League

Owen Hargreaves has torn into Liverpool after a statistic emerged that said they had conceded more goals than Everton this season.

The Reds lost to Brentford 3-1 on 2 January and failed to close the gap to the top four, with the Premier League title already looking like a distant dream.

Liverpool have now conceded 22 goals this season which is two more than what Frank Lampard’s relegation-threatened side have done.

Everton

Hargreaves said on Premier League Productions (03/01, 7:43pm), “They’ve conceded more goals than Everton. It is not good enough. Shambolic

Impressive

It’s good to see Everton being better off defensively than Liverpool as that’s been a distant dream in the past few seasons.

However, the main issue for Lampard’s side has been in the final third and that’s something they need to address in the January transfer window.

It’s evident that the board have decided to back him at least for some more time so it makes sense to give him the signings he needs.

He also needs to bring a tune out of the players that he currently has at the club as it’s pretty evident that most of the attackers are not playing up to their full potential.

We’re hoping to see an upturn in fortunes sooner rather than later or it could be a difficult few weeks for the Toffees manager who appears to be fighting for his job despite getting a good result against Manchester City as they need to get wins sooner rather than later.
