TalkSPORT pundit sparks rumours of Frank Lampard rift with Anthony Gordon at Everton
Gabriel Agbonlahor has suggested there is a rift between Frank Lampard and Anthony Gordon at Everton after the player’s poor form this season.
Gordon was subject to big interest in the summer transfer window but a deal never materialised and he now looks set to pen a new contract at Goodison Park.
But after just three goals this season and a string of poor performances, Agbonlahor told the talkSPORT breakfast show (6:36am) that he felt “something’s going on” between the boss and his star winger that has led to the drop off in form.

“You look at the problem with Anthony Gordon. Since Chelsea were interested you’ve not heard from Gordon,” he said.
“He’s scored one or two goals in that time, like, he’s been in and out of the team. Something’s going on there with Lampard maybe, with the new contract.
“Pickford was promised a new contract and that’s stalling. There are problems at Everton from above and that needs sorting. Lampard needs investment.”
Problems
It seems highly unlikely that there is an issue between Gordon and Lampard, considering the manager is the driving force behind talks for a new contract.
The 21-year-old has struggled for form this season, just like every other outfield player in the squad because the team haven’t been playing well, and he was dropped for poor performances.
But he’s also come back into the team after those and had a few showings where he’s shown flashes of what he can do and what made him a fan favourite last season.
As a young player there is no doubt going to be big gaps in performance as he develops and learns, but they will be magnified because he is a key man at Goodison Park and we rely on him heavily.
This is just Agbonlahor fishing for excuses and controversy, but it seems like a huge reach on his part when everything is in context.
