Tottenham Hotspur send scouts to watch Anthony Gordon at Everton v Brighton with January deal mooted
Tottenham sent their recruitment staff to watch Anthony Gordon during Everton v Brighton, but the player missed the game through illness, according to the Daily Mail.
The Toffees winger missed the New Years Eve draw with Manchester City through illness and was missing again during the 4-1 embarrassment against the Seagulls on Tuesday night (3 January).
But after chasing the 21-year-old during the summer, Spurs sent scouts to watch him again ahead of a potential move in January, only to find out he wasn’t part of the squad once again.

“Tottenham’s recruitment staff were at Goodison Park on Tuesday night to scout out Everton’s Anthony Gordon,” they wrote (4 January).
“However, their trip was largely fruitless, as the 21-year-old striker sat out the match against Brighton with an illness.”
Pay up
When Gordon was linked with a move away during the summer fans were in two minds about what to do with him, but it seems now that the consenus is that if someone pays a good fee he can go.
Gordon has scored seven goals in 64 games for Everton since breaking into the first-team, and was linked with a mega £60m move to Chelsea before Everton pulled the plug on it.

He was expected to put pen to paper on a new contract very recently, but that hasn’t happened and Spurs want to sign a new attacking option to help ease the burden on Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son.
While his energy and passion can’t be questioned by anyone watching Everton, his quality can. If a big money bid is to come in for him that can help the club strengthen the squad in other areas, it must be something that should be considered.
Lampard wants to keep him, but with Lampard’s future far from sure too, it may not be up to him anyway.
