Dinamo Zagreb make Mislav Orsic promise as Everton look to hijack broken Southampton deal
Dinamo Zagreb have promised Everton-linked Mislav Orsic that he is free to leave the club if a suitable offer from England is made, according to Germanijak.
Germanijak journalist Izak Ante Sucic revealed on Wednesday (personal Twitter account, 4 January) that Southampton’s move for the Croatian winger had fallen through and that the Toffees were looking to hijack the deal.
It’s since been suggested the Saints’ offer of £4.4million was considered too low by Zagreb, and that Everton are now showing the strongest Premier League interest along with Nottingham Forest (Germanijak, 4 January).

It’s understood the Croatian club are willing to let the 30-year leave and that it’s in “everyone’s interest” to finalise a move to England.
One to watch
This is definitely one to watch for Everton fans, with Orsic destined to move to the Premier League in the January window. The winger has been an impressive performer in Europe and for his country over a number of years and probably deserves a shot in England’s top-flight before it’s too late.

Frank Lampard is looking to add more attacking depth and quality to his side and Orsic would certainly provide that, however, this signing does feel very similar to some of the failed additions the Toffees have made in the past. Orsic will provide the club with little or no sell-on value when he departs and will likely be on a high wage.
Therefore, he would have to perform extremely well for the move to make any sort of financial sense for the club. Although considering Everton’s current position, signing an attacking player who could be the difference in a relegation battle could well be a route to go down.
