Everton ‘seriously pushing’ to sign Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz
Everton are “seriously pushing” again to sign Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz this month, according to journalist Simon Phillips.
The Toffees have long been admirers of the Chilean forward, with 90min reporting on 25 August that the club were closing in on a move for the forward.
However, the 23-year-old remained at Ewood Park for this season, but he is out of contract at the end of June which means the club could acquire his services for a small fee should they wish to pursue a deal for the second time.

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Phillips shared the latest transfer news coming from Goodison Park as Lampard aims to bolster his squad this month.
“They’re pondering a move and he will be a cheap option. Lampard is seriously pushing for that signing again,” said Phillips, who is a writer and podcaster for TalkChelsea.
Calvert-Lewin problem
With only 14 goals scored in the Premier League this season so far, the Toffees can be considered desperate for attacking reinforcements. And signing Diaz certainly makes a lot of sense both financially and considering his potential.

At 23 years old, the Chilean has plenty of years before he reaches his prime and the fact that Everton won’t need to pay a sizeable fee for his services could be deemed as a masterstroke.
Diaz has proven he’s a reliable goalscorer, he’s bagged over 30 goals in nearly two full Championship campaigns for Blackburn and could well translate that in the Premier League if given the time, opportunities, and room to thrive.
However, that may not be at Everton. With Dominic Calvert-Lewin fit again, Diaz may not be guaranteed those aforementioned conditions, especially regular game time, despite the England international’s worrying injury record.
The forward will be better served moving to a club where he’s guaranteed to be a club’s key man so he can further his development in one of Europe’s most coveted leagues.
