Everton must let Tom Davies explore Rangers transfer interest in January
Rangers manager Michael Beale has admitted he is interested in signing Tom Davies from Everton in the January transfer window, and Frank Lampard should let the midfielder go if an offer arrives.
The Toffees outcast has been on the periphery of proceedings at Goodison Park so far this season and has featured for just 70 minutes since the World Cup break, despite several injuries in the middle of the park.
After Rangers’ 2-0 win over Dundee United on Sunday (8 January), manager Beale confirmed he had spoken to Davies about a possible move to Ibrox, which could be the perfect opportunity to reignite the 24-year-old’s career.

Davies’ contract is due to expire in the summer, and this could be the last opportunity for the Toffees to cash in on the midfielder before most likely losing him on a free transfer at the end of the campaign.
The Liverpool-born player has fallen down the pecking order on Merseyside this season, with Alex Iwobi, Idrissa Gueye, Amadou Onana, James Garner and even the struggling Abdoulaye Doucoure starting ahead of him.
As a result, Lampard has awarded the 24-year-old just 366 minutes and five starts in the Premier League this season, so it wouldn’t be seen a significant loss if he were released to the Scottish club.

With limited playing opportunities available at Everton, a move away would get him off the wage bill whilst also allowing Lampard to reinvest in other areas of the squad. A move in the mould of Solomon Rondon’s – who terminated his contract before the New Year – could therefore be on the cards.
A striker is desperately needed this window, and moving on players such as Davies could provide the club with the funds to bring in fresh faces.
Everton fans wouldn’t be hugely disappointed to see Davies go either, as he has never fulfilled his potential after bursting onto the scene as a teenager and can no longer be called upon to start week in week out due to his unfortunate injury record.
