Everton and Nottingham Forest in battle to sign Arnaut Danjuma on loan – Sky Sports

Everton face a battle with fellow Premier League strugglers Nottingham Forest in a bid to sign Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma, according to Sky Sports.

According to reports in the Daily Mail [10 January], the Toffees had made contact with the La Liga outfit to sign the Dutch international, but because of financial restrictions, they can only potentially secure the player on a loan deal this month.

And that has been confirmed by Cadena Ser journalist Bruno Alemany, who tweeted [10 January] that the Merseyside outfit are seeking a “loan with a purchase option at the end of the season” which has been placed on the table.

Furthermore, the latest developments from Sky Sports [10 January] have now revealed that fellow Premier League club Nottingham Forest have joined the hunt for the talented winger this month.

Danjuma, who joined Villarreal from Bournemouth in 2021, was voted in the Champions League team of 2021/22 as they reached the semi-finals.

Quality needed

The Toffees are in desperate need of quality attacking reinforcements and Villarreal’s Danjuma fits the bill.

Since his move from AFC Bournemouth in 2021, the 25-year-old has gone on to become one of Europe’s most frightening attacking outlets, registering an impressive 22 goals 51 games in all competitions for the Yellow Submarine.

His Bournemouth days also bred a similar goalscoring record, notching 17 from 52 outings.

Such a record is one Everton really do not possess right now, and considering their current plight in the English top flight, they are in need of a player who is confident in front of goal.

Anthony Gordon, Dwight McNeil, and Demarai Gray have scored just eight top-flight goals between them this season. And it’s made all the more telling that Lampard’s attacking trio have bagged over half of the club’s goals in the league.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury troubles have not helped matters, while summer signing Neal Maupay is struggling to set Goodison alight since his move from Brighton.

Lampard will desperately need all the quality he can muster this month, and acquiring Danjuma represents a smart piece of business. Get it done.
