Telegraph journalist shares Frank Lampard sack update ahead of Everton v Southampton

Everton are reportedly considering their options and Frank Lampard could be shown the door at Goodison Park sooner rather than later.

According to the Telegraph [9 January], the Toffees manager could be relieved of his duties if his side ends up losing against Southampton on Saturday, 14 January.

Both sides go into the game desperate for the three points as they’re fighting relegation with their head coaches under pressure.

Make it quick

The Everton board cannot decide to back or not to back a manager on the basis of one result.

The team can play well and still end up losing the game or play horribly and get lucky to edge a late goal and secure the three points.

If there is a belief that Lampard is building towards something substantial, then he must be backed in the transfer window and the club must come out and assure him his job is safe.

However, they’re not doing that and it’s pretty evident why, so then he should be shown the door regardless of what happens at Goodison Park over the weekend.

Farhad Moshiri eventually will be the one to decide and he’s got his favourites lined up for the job which could see familiar faces returning to the club.

There are even links to Sean Dyche and Celtic manager Ange Postecoglu so it remains to be seen who the club eventually end up hiring.
