Olivia Buzaglo wowed by ‘brilliant signing’ at Everton after Arnaut Danjuma development

Sky Sports reporter Olivia Buzaglo believes Arnaut Danjuma would be a “brilliant signing” for Everton as the Toffees look to land the Villarreal attacker.

According to Spanish media outlet Cadena Ser (10 January) Everton are “desperate” to sign for Dutch forward, with the La Liga side open to letting the 25-year-old depart.

Talking on Sky Sports Transfer Centre, Buzaglo suggests the Villarreal man is exactly what the Toffees need at the moment.

“He’s actually been pretty impressive and last season he was very good at Villarreal and one of their best players,” said Buzaglo (Sky Sports Transfer Centre, 10:45, 11 January).

“He has 123 minutes per goal involvement and that’s very impressive. He only has six goals this season, but Anthony Gordon, Dwight McNeil and Demarai Gray have got eight in the Premier League between them all season.

“This season Danjuma has been playing more centrally as a main number nine. I know he occasionally plays off the left for Villarreal but he has predominantly the central striker and that’s exactly what Everton need.

“The only thing is that Nottingham Forest have already expressed an interest so there could be a battle between these two but I think it’s a brilliant signing.”

Get it done

This is a move for the board should be looking to get over the line as soon as possible. Danjuma is a versatile forward who has certainly shown more than Everton’s current attacking options.

Furthermore, he has recent experience in the Champions League and has previously played in the Premier League.

A loan move with an obligation to buy would seem like the most sensible move in order for Everton to not overspend in the January window. An attacker has to be the priority for Frank Lampard, with the 44-year-old facing a huge couple of weeks at Goodison Park.

Everton Frank Lampard

Saturday’s match against Southampton (14 January) is looking like a make-or-break fixture for Lampard. Failure to win could see the board act and look to bring in another manager to ease Everton’s relegation woes.

It’s also been a slow start to the transfer window with the board potentially reluctant to give the former Chelsea boss any backing with his job currently under threat.
