Villarreal line up replacement for Arnaut Danjuma after Everton transfer bid

La Liga outfit Villarreal reportedly already have a replacement lined up should Dutch forward Arnaut Danjuma leave to join Everton this month, according to Spanish Media outlet El Gol Digital.

Reports in the Daily Mail [10 January] revealed the Toffees had made contact with Villarreal to sign the Dutch international, on a loan deal with a view to making it permanent at the end of the season, due to financial restrictions on the club.

Cadena Ser journalist Bruno Alemany also followed that up [10 January], tweeting that the Blues were seeking a loan with a purchase option at the end of the 2022/23 campaign and that such an offer has indeed been placed before the 2021 Europa League winners.

Now, the latest reports within the Spanish press El Gol Digital [11 January] have suggested that Villarreal already have a replacement lined up should Danjuma join Everton this month, and that his departure is almost certain. The Yellow Submarine are trying to line up Barcelona youngster Pablo Torre as a replacement for the Dutchman.

A Must Have

Considering the struggles Everton have faced this season, especially on the goalscoring front having only registered 14 league goals all season in 18 games, Danjuma is an absolute must-have for the Toffees.

Throughout his time at both AFC Bournemouth and Villarreal, the six-time Dutch international has proven his prowess in front of goal bagging 17 for the former and 22 goals in the last two campaigns for the Yellow Submarine since his move from the Vitality Stadium in August 2021.

The 25-year-old is a proven quality, a player who always seems to rise to the occasion when his club needs it most. And that is a commodity that Frank Lampard desperately needs as he attempts to drag the Toffees out of a nerve-racking and needless relegation battle.

His current options in Dwight McNeil, Anthony Gordon and Demarai Gray have been inconsistent so far this campaign, and it is evidently clear that the club need attacking quality for the remainder of the campaign.

Danjuma fits the bill. Once on the radar of Merseyside rivals Liverpool over a year ago, the winger still has unfinished business in the Premier League having made 14 unproductive appearances in the English top-flight for the Cherries, and he could well be the man to pull the Toffees out of a very difficult situation.
