Everton: Arnaut Danjuma would be crucial upgrade on Anthony Gordon, Lampard must sign him
Everton are interested in the services of Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma and the Dutch international could be a crucial upgrade on the stuttering Anthony Gordon.
The 25-year-old is reportedly seeking a return to the Premier League, after featuring there for a season with AFC Bournemouth during the 2019/20 campaign.
And according to reports in the Daily Mail [10 January], the Toffees are interested in taking the former Cherries attacker on loan from the Spanish giants, with a view to making the move permanent at the end of the season.

However, the Blues don’t have a clear run at the player, with fellow Premier League strugglers Nottingham Forest [Sky Sports, 10 January] and his former club Bournemouth all registering their interest in taking him back to the English top flight.
Though, considering Everton’s current plight in the table and their desperate need for a quality and creative forward this month, the Toffees must ensure they jump ahead of the queue and secure his signature.
Lampard’s current options in Demarai Gray, and Dwight McNeil have been too inconsistent so far this campaign, but more so has Anthony Gordon. One of the club’s biggest hopes.
The 21-year-old has failed to build on his strong breakthrough season last year, where he garnered much interest from Chelsea and Newcastle and his lack of form is certainly hurting the Toffees, where they’ve only scored just 14 goals from 18 Premier League games, causing them to languish in the relegation places on goal difference.
Indeed, he has a lot of room to improve and grow in the future, but right now doesn’t carry the relevant goal threat Everton requires.
Danjuma would represent a stark upgrade on Gordon and could provide the catalyst for Lampard and his team to reignite their attacking mojo.
The 25-year-old holds real European pedigree and is a proven goalscorer at the top level, bagging 22 goals in 51 appearances for the Yellow Submarine. He registered 10 goals and three assists in La Liga last season, whilst also notching a further six goals and two assists in Villarreal’s historic run to the Champions League semi-final.

Gordon has only managed just the seven goals these last two campaigns so far, along with two assists from last season. When fans have relied on him to prove the telling difference in games this season, he’s failed to deliver.
Everton desperately need consistent quality for the foreseeable future and Danjuma fits the bill perfectly. It’s no wonder why he’s so hugely coveted right now, especially from fellow clubs in and around the Toffees.
It would be a huge blow for Lampard to see a big target join their relegation rivals, so he must ensure his side are the team Danjuma chooses this month.
