Everton board members to stay away from Goodison Park v Southampton due to security concerns

Everton board members have been advised not to attend Goodison Park for the clash with Southampton due to security concerns, they have shared in a statement.

The Toffees fans have planned a sit-in protest at the ground for the game, as they look to share their disillusion under the current owner and board.

But the board will now not be present to see the protest, with journalist Joe Thomas describing the situation as an “appalling turn of events”.

“Everton board members advised not to attend Southampton game due to safety concerns,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account (14 January).

“Latest on an appalling turn of events.”

Shocking

If there has been a genuine and credible threat to the safety of the board, then that is truly shocking from the fans who are responsible.

So far the protests and anger that has been directed towards them has been nothing of the sort, so it would see very odd that this has happened now.

Everton

The board and owner have made it quite clear that they’re sticking together on the current problems at Everton, with Moshiri even going as far as blaming the fans for managerial appointments recently.

But this issue is bigger than the fans vs the board, and is simply about making sure the right thing is done for the future of the football club no matter what that is.

It seems as though things are going to get worse before they get better, but at least this is bringing attention to the mess we’re in right now to anyone who wasn’t aware.
