Everton miss out on two attackers as club yet to make signings in January
Everton are yet to sign a new player in the January window and they have missed out on signing two attackers to Premier League rivals already.
According to the Daily Mail (14 January, pg.116), the Toffees were interested in signing Hoffenheim striker Georginio Rutter who is on his way to Leeds United.
Dominic King reports that the Toffees also showed interest in German winger Kevin Schade but he joined Brentford instead. The club desperately need to add new faces but they face “huge” competition to land a forward.

Sad state
That’s the real picture at the moment.
The Toffees are 18th in the league, and they cannot lure top players to the club. Rutter is a talented young striker who would have been a fantastic addition. However, Leeds are dishing out a club-record fee to land him.
Everton are operating on a tight budget, and they cannot spend £35million on a single player, even though the club badly need to bolster their forward department.

The Toffees are mainly looking at loan signings this month, but even then it’s getting difficult for them to bring the right candidates.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has recently returned from injuries, and the club has to be careful with him. If he picks up another major injury now, it would be a catastrophe for the Toffees. Neal Maupay, the summer signing from Brighton, has been very poor and Lampard doesn’t seem to trust him enough.
The club recalled Ellis Simms from his loan spell at Sunderland, but there are suggestions that the youngster could be sent on loan again to the Wearside club for the rest of the season.
With nearly half of the month gone, the Toffees need to be active in the market.
