Everton shareholder sends message to Board of Directors after warning pre Southampton clash
Everton shareholder Mike Parry wanted the board of directors to attend the clash against Southampton despite them receiving threats.
He said this after news emerged that CEO Denise-Barrett Baxendale had been put in a headlock by a male fan after the defeat against Brighton.
They ended up not attending the clash, but Parry was not in favour of them doing that even after the footage emerged pre game.
Via Twitter, Parry wrote, “Who on earth has the authority to “instruct” Everton’s board of directors not to attend a game at Goodison Park? It’s outrageous and I hope every member of the board ignores this mad “advice”. You don’t pander to half a dozen half-bakes. You stand tall and strong as Directors.”
Safety first
We understand Parry’s concern and as directors they need to show strength, but arranging that kind of security detail at such short notice would not be possible.
If the advice came from authorities and that their safety was endangered then it made sense for them to stay away from the stadium.
If the news of the headlock is accurate, it is absolutely unacceptable for any fan to assault anyone and action must be taken.
Hopefully, things settle down in the coming days, but one thing is pretty clear – the fans have never been this unhappy with the operations behind the scenes.
Farhad Moshiri needs to sell this club as soon as possible and the boardroom also needs a massive overhaul as soon as possible.
Former Everton players have also now openly called out the owner and his recent comments have not really gone down well with anyone.
