Micah Richards slams Everton fans as footage emerges from outside Goodison Park after loss v Southampton

Micah Richards has slammed Everton fans after Yerry Mina was confronted outside Goodison Park after the defeat to Southampton on Saturday.

It’s sorry scenes at the moment on Merseyside and Frank Lampard’s future at the club has never looked bleaker than it is now.

Richards put Everton fans on blast for mobbing Mina outside of the stadium after the horrendous 2-1 defeat to Southampton on 14 January.

“You see Yerry Mina fronting up with the fans and he’s got a lot of accolade for that on socials tonight,” said Richards live on Match of the Day (14 January, 31:04, 31:24).

“I had a similar thing happen when I was at Aston Villa when I was there and we were going through a bad time.

“It doesn’t help the players at all, they have a right to protest like you say but all it does is put more pressure and it does become very difficult.”

Everton

Fragile.

The support can only take the team so far and there needs to be some serious changes made at Goodison Park if the Toffees are going to redeem themselves this season.

We are almost halfway through the January transfer window and there are still yet to be any incomings on the Blue half of Merseyside, shocking stuff.

It’s pretty evident where Everton’s problems lie and with just one goal each between Neal Maupay and Dominic Calvert-Lewin the Blues need a fearsome forward.

Whether or not the club pursue any deals for new strikers remains to be seen and as the clock ticks down to deadline day it’s, unfortunately, looking unlikely.

Failure to sign a new forward will almost definitely leave Everton in a heap load of trouble and it’s hard to see a way out for Lampard if this happens.

We have our fingers crossed that this latest damning defeat will push the club into action but it wouldn’t be surprising if the Blues hierarchy continued to stand still.
