Everton eye pre-contract transfer for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele

Everton reportedly want to sign Lyon striker Moussa Dembele in the January transfer window as Frank Lampard eyes attacking reinforcements.

According to Foot Mercato [17 January], the Toffees are eyeing the Frenchman as he hasn’t committed to the French club.

His contract runs out at the end of the season and Everton could sign him at a decent price.

Makes sense

If the Toffees are getting the option of signing a player of Dembele’s calibre on a free transfer or less money, then they must take it.

However, it’s important that they bring in someone in January as well as they’ve got plenty of woes they need to address in the final third.

Frank Lampard is fighting a losing battle to retain his job at Goodison Park if the board are backing him, they need to do a good job of it.

Signings in January are particularly important for clubs in the relegation zone and battling to stay up and the Toffees need two or three new faces sooner rather than later.

We’re unsure Dembele would want to move to Everton, but in case he does, this is a deal worth exploring for them.

He’s a versatile attacker who adds something different in the final third and the Toffees do not have a player of his calibre at the club.
