Everton manager Frank Lampard sack update emerges ahead of Premier League clash v West Ham

Farhad Moshiri is set to keep Frank Lampard on as the Everton manager as they face fellow relegation rivals West Ham on Saturday, 21 January.

According to the I journalist Mark Douglas (16 June), barring a major u-turn, Moshiri aims to stick to the vote of confidence given to Lampard by the board.

They want to press on with the same man in charge to build this squad in the January transfer window and get them out of the relegation zone.

Mistakes

If Moshiri sacked Rafa Benitez during the January transfer window after giving him the player incomings and outgoings he wanted, he can surely do the same with Lampard.

However, this time, the Everton owner is far more unpopular than the manager and the supporters want him gone first with the board also now receiving their share of the music.

This is not to imply that Lampard is doing a good job, far from it.

The former Chelsea manager clearly seems to be out of his depth at Goodison Park and the players do not appear to be responding to his tactical messages.

This team is looking as disjointed as ever and it’s a systemic mess at the football club that begins right from the top and unfortunately, fans can do nothing about it.

If the Toffees fail to win and Southampton can better their result in the next game, Everton will be 20th in the Premier League table and if that does not call for the manager’s sacking, we do not know what will/
