Everton need Arnaut Danjuma most as he jets in for transfer talks – Sky Sports journalist

Everton could be the likely destination for Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma in the January window, according to Sky Sports journalist Harriet Prior.

Danjuma has travelled to the UK to hold talks with Premier League clubs as he is eyeing a loan move in the January window, and the Toffees are keen to land him [Sky Sports; transfer live blog, 17 January, 01:46pm].

Prior suggests that the Toffees badly need a goalscorer this month as they haven’t properly replaced Richalison who joined Tottenham in the summer.

Everton Frank Lampard

She thinks Danjuma is a proven goalscorer, and he can play on the wings as well. Everton are in the relegation zone, and they need a quality player like Danjuma to rescue them.

“I am going to have to go with Everton,” said Prior on Sky Sports.

“Obviously, it’s a really difficult time both on and off the pitch for Everton at the moment. They are in a relegation battle.

“They let go of Richarlison in the summer who was a really key figure for them. They can’t rely on anyone for consistent goals.

“[Danjuma] would come in and do a good job for them. Danjuma – 16 goals in 34 games last season. He’s a proven goalscorer, he plays both off the wings as well. Everton probably need him most.”

Decision time

The Toffees cannot do anything here but wait for Danjuma’s decision.

They have reportedly presented an offer and have tried their best to lure him to Goodison Park.

It’s up to Danjuma now to choose wisely where he wants to go. At Goodison Park, he will definitely get regular games, as Frank Lampard is crying for a player like him.

The Toffees are struggling to score at the moment, and there is a genuine dearth of creativity in the side.

Everton

Danjuma has dropped down the pecking order at Yellow Submarines this season, but he showed his class in the previous campaign.

Everton are 19th in the table, and Lampard doesn’t seem to have any idea on how to get three points for his side.

It will be interesting to see how Lampard uses him if the Toffees can secure his signature. He is most likely to be used as a striker, but can also play in the wings if Dominic Calvert-Lewin starts upfront.
