Everton: The tense climate at Goodison Park is hampering transfers in January

The climate at Goodison Park is affecting Everton transfers as the club actively hunts to sign a new forward to join their ranks, according to Journalist Alan Myers.

Frank Lampard and Everton have still yet to make any concrete moves in the January transfer window and the clock is ticking on their chances to do so.

Myers confessed that the ability of the club to attract new prospects to the team are being affected by on and off-the-field antics.

“The current climate on and off the field at Everton is hampering the clubs’ ability to attract players to Goodison Park during the January window,” said Myers on his personal Twitter account. (19 January)

“The Club is actively seeking forward reinforcements with a goal-scoring frontman a priority.”

What were they doing?

Everton were granted unprecedented time to discuss and work through transfers in a massive FIFA World Cup break in November.

This begs the question, what were the club doing at this time? Surely, it was the perfect opportunity to draw up a suitable shortlist and get the ball rolling before the window opened.

Six weeks Everton had during the World Cup break, six weeks to sort out transfers and get the club ready and raring to go once Premier League action resumed.

There wasn’t nearly as much doom and gloom over the team at that point, the very thing that is “hampering” them from making deals right now.

Unfortunately, this just seems like another excuse as to why the club won’t sign anyone this month, pointing the finger at the fans again.

Everton have been painfully slow in January and whilst teams in and around the relegation battle have bolstered their squads, the Blues have sat back and released updates on their new stadium.

It’s just plain boring now and the excuses have dried up, just watch a deadline day panic buy move that doesn’t work out.
