Everton transfer news as Newcastle United want Anthony Gordon deal again in January
Everton may be “more receptive” to letting Anthony Gordon leave the club this January, as Newcastle United once again register interest in the winger, according to The Telegraph.
Gordon, 21, was subject to interest from numerous Premier League clubs in the summer transfer window, including the Magpies, who wanted to sign the attacker for a rumoured £25million, the Northern Echo [July 24] reported.
The Toffees ace has failed to kick on following a brilliant break-out season, netting just three times from 16 appearances this term, and Newcastle have returned to the table after having a bid rejected previously.

The Telegraph’s report said: “Everton’s Anthony Gordon is back on Newcastle’s radar after they had a bid rejected in the summer.
“Everton were desperate to hold on to Gordon then, but may be more receptive to six months later when the player has not kicked on as hoped at Goodison Park.”

Tough call
Gordon has indeed failed to live up to expectations this season, but it can’t help playing in the toxic environment surrounding Goodison Park in recent times.
In a side that lacks creativity and has few other attacking outlets apart from himself, it is no wonder Gordon’s numbers haven’t reached the totals so many would have expected.
Whether the club should allow his release this month is very much up for debate. The Toffees are desperately in need of funds to reinvest in their stagnating squad – so the sale of the England Under-21 international could allow this.
However, in letting go of a player who has come through the club from a young age, they will be losing a part of their identity and finally admitting defeat after refusing numerous offers in the summer.
Whatever Lampard and Moshiri decide, they have a seriously rich club in Newcastle interested in signing one of their players, and they would likely dig deep into their pockets to get the transfer over the line.
