Simon Jordan shares unique Bill Kenwright role in potential Everton manager switch for David Moyes

TalkSPORT host Simon Jordan believes the “formidable team” Bill Kenwright and David Moyes previously forged at Everton could play a huge role in a potential reunion at Goodison Park.

Toffees manager Frank Lampard has fallen under increasing scrutiny recently following a dire run of form, which has seen his side drop level on points with Southampton at the foot of the Premier League table.

Pressure on West Ham United manager Moyes has also reached boiling point after failing to gel his summer signings that equated to over £160million and subsequently sitting just a place above the Toffees.

Everton

The Scot is reportedly “loved by former chairman Bill Kenwright” as Alan Nixon reported on his Patreon page (8 January), and talkSPORT host Jordan has now questioned whether a return to Merseyside could lay in store for Moyes.

When asked about the possibility of a reunion live on talkSPORT on Thursday (19 January), he replied: “Of course, you can.

“If Bill Kenwright is still in situ as chairman of Everton, I can see why those dots get joined up backwards.

“If you’re looking at it in isolation, [there are] completely different people, completely different ownership model, completely different set of people in the boardroom, then you would look at it and go: This guy has put West Ham in the bottom three. Why on earth would we want him at our place?

“But because this has a completely unique situation, there are personalities that formed a very formidable team once upon a time.”

Return on the cards?

It is surely only a matter of time till Lampard is given his marching orders, and a move to Moyes would make a lot of sense. The fans would greet the Scot with welcome arms and would certainly back his team through thick and thin, considering his previous heroics on Merseyside.

Moyes would likely face competition from the likes of Duncan Ferguson and Wayne Rooney for the spot in the Goodison Park dugout, but Moyes would surely be the top target.

A lot still has to happen for this dream to become a reality – with the Scot and Lampard currently still in their respective managerial positions – and whether Moyes would want to jump straight back into the managerial hot seat is still unknown.

With leadership lacking from the top to bottom of Everton football club, it is time for Moysey to step in and guide the Toffees away from the ever-increasing likelihood of Championship football.
