Everton have been offered the chance to sign Brazilian forward Lucas Moura this month by his club Tottenham Hotspur, according to journalist Simon Jones.

The 30-year-old has missed much of this season following a tendon injury, but is back in training and also seeing his opportunities limited under Antonio Conte.

Spurs have reportedly refused the option of extending his contract beyond this summer, according to reports in the Telegraph, and are looking to offload him in the January window.

Everton

Everton are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements this month, as Lampard looks to steer his side clear of another relegation battle after another season of turmoil and disappointment.

And according to Daily Mail journalist Simon Jones, on his Window Watch column [19 January, page 72], Spurs have offered the Brazilian's services to the Toffees this month.

Loan

Moura may well turn out to be a decent addition to Lampard's squad this month, considering his valuable Premier League experience and abilities in the final third.

However, if the Toffees wish to recruit him, they should only look to loan him rather than a permanent deal, as this move could come with risks in the long-term.

Everton

The Brazilian does hold a worrying injury record in recent years, and would need to be back in tip-top fettle if Everton are to get the best out of him should he move this month.

If they can, then Moura could well rediscover a new lease of life in the English top flight. But, the Toffees cannot afford to hand the player a long-term deal, and he turns out to be another Goodison Park waste of money, which does seem likely.

19 Premier League goals and 16 assists in 145 appearances after being playing much of a bit-part role for Spurs throughout his career in North London seems like a decent return though, and one which the Toffees could well do with in these crucial next six months.

As stated previously, Moura could turn out to be a decent loan option, if Lampard fails to get his top targets.
