Arnaut Danjuma left with final choice between Everton and rival for January loan

Arnaut Danjuma has a “final decision” still to make as to whether he signs for Everton or a Premier League rival on loan, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The Villarreal winger has been given permission to discuss a move to England where he has attracted extensive interest.

The Toffees are in with a strong chance of completing their first deal of the January transfer window, with Fabrizio Romano confirming in the early hours of Friday morning (20 January) on Twitter that medical tests have been booked.

Everton

But the latest report suggests it is not yet a foregone conclusion, as it says: “The ECHO understands that the 25-year-old – who has also attracted interest from PSV Eindhoven back in his native Netherlands – has a final decision to make between two Premier Leagues vying for his services.”

The club which Everton are in a “two-way fight” with are not named, but the likes of Bournemouth, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest and Tottenham have all been linked.

PSV Eindhoven also held an interest but it appears the Premier League is Danjuma’s priority.

Almost there

This is as close as the Toffees have come to finally landing some help in the winter window despite being interested in numerous options to lift their collapsing season.

If the Netherlands international is prepared to come and join a relegation battle at Goodison Park it would appear to show some of the fight this side badly needs.

Having got this far through the transfer window, and finally be at the point where a new arrival could be imminent, it would be a major surprise to see Frank Lampard removed now even with a poor result against West Ham.

Everton Frank Lampard

He had to contend with taking over from Rafael Benitez with only the dregs of the transfer window left last year, after moves had already been made for his Spanish predecessor.

Unfortunately it would be in keeping with the level of decision making too often under the current regime to give one manager a mid-season window and then sack him twice in a row, so nothing can be ruled out.

But for now it appears that Lampard will be given time, despite the miserable form his side are in.
