Goncalo Guedes could leave Wolves permanently with Everton in hot pursuit of new Benfica loanee

Everton want to sign Wolves attacker Goncalo Guedes with a permanent exit from Molineux on the cards in the summer, according to Ryan Taylor.

Guedes only joined Wolves in the summer in a deal worth £27.5m from Valencia, but he has struggled to make an impact in the Premier League and has re-joined his boyhood club Benfica on loan until the end of the season.

But with no buy option in that deal according to The Express (20 January, 8:18), Guedes is likely to look for a permanent exit in the summer and with Everton showing interest this month in a loan they could return then.

Intriguing

Guedes has long had a great reputation in Europe for being a goalscoring winger after breaking through at Benfica and having spells at Paris Saint-Germain and Valencia.

But since coming to England he struggled to make a real impact, scoring only twice in 18 appearances in all competitions before returning to his homeland.

Everton have been linked to every forward in the world this month as Frank Lampard looks to improve the squad ahead of an inevitable relegation battle, but Guedes definitely wouldn’t have been the answer now.

Everton

Arnaut Danjuma looks set to join with a medical booked in for Friday (Fabrizio Romano, 20 January) and he seems like a much better option than a struggling player who has flopped in the league, but a fresh look in the summer could be worthwhile.

He’s likely to be available relatively cheaply, and if Everton are still in the Premier League then adding more options as they start fresh could be ideal to get off to a good start next year.
