Jamie Carragher blasts ‘absolute nonsense’ spouted about Everton by Alan Brazil

Jamie Carragher took to social media to take a swipe at talkSPORT presenter Alan Brazil for his “absolute nonsense” comments on Everton owner Farhad Moshiri live on Friday morning.

There has been a large feeling of discontent around the club towards Moshiri and the club board in recent weeks which culminated during last weekend’s Premier League defeat against Southampton.

The club’s board of directors were instructed not to attend the game, due to concerns regarding their safety as a result of protests and alleged unrest amongst the Toffees faithful.

And Brazil, talking live on air for talkSPORT [20 January] regarding Moshiri, stated that the situation at the club has gone too far and that the Toffees owner should sell up.

He said: “I’m sorry this has gone too far. When directors, right and then don’t get me wrong. We get so many foreign away directors now, when they feel it’s not safe to attend a football club, you might as well say walk away and say I’m out, I’m selling the share, that is a disgrace.”

And Carragher took to his personal Twitter [20 January] account to respond to Brazil’s take, he tweeted: “Alan Brazil talking absolute nonsense on the Everton situation there on Talksport!”

Controversial

Brazil’s comments that Moshiri should walk away because of the protests and toxic nature at the football club is indeed controversial, as it is not that simple for him to do that amidst all the fan anger and frustration.

In fact, Moshiri looking to walk away may make things even worse for him, with certain sections of the Toffees crowd believing that he is taking the easy way out and not taking responsibility for the mess that he’s arguably created.

The Toffees are in desperate need of a reset right now, and Moshiri may have invested a lot of his money into the club, but the fans simply cannot take his incompetence and lack of transparency any longer.

Everton football club should not be suffering through yet another season of relegation anguish, and Moshiri’s ownership has been a major factor in the club’s dire plight.

Something needs to change, but there’s still a lot of tape to cut through before things begin to the turnaround at Goodison Park again. One thing is for certain, Moshiri simply cannot walk away, he must take responsibility and feel the need to change for himself.
