Anthony Gordon Everton contract update emerges with fresh twist amid Newcastle links

Everton attacker Anthony Gordon has reportedly agreed on a new contract at Goodison Park amid links to Premier League rivals Newcastle.

According to I journalist Mark Douglas, while he may have agreed on the terms, he is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal at the club.

Gordon was linked with a big money move to Chelsea over the summer, but the Toffees were reluctant to let him leave after Richarlison’s sale.

Douglas wrote on Twitter, “Nufc link with Gordon intriguing. He has agreed new contract terms but yet to sign it. January always has twists.”

Weird one

This is yet another twist in the Gordon transfer saga and we’ve surely not heard the last of it.

Newcastle find themselves in a rare position as they’ve got a very realistic chance of finishing in the top four and qualifying for the Champions League.

Despite their deep pockets, they possibly would never have accounted for reaching that goal in the 2022/23 season and qualification for that tournament will certainly be a big financial boost for them.

Everton

Gordon perhaps will be waiting to sign the new Everton deal as if the Magpies can give him the salary he wants, which does seem realistic, he may want to jump ship.

He will have the chance of playing in the Champions League next season and also be at a club that’s on the rise rather than one fighting relegation.

This will be a bitter blow for Everton as they had a long-term plan chalked out for Gordon with the assumption that he will be signing a new deal.
