Everton: Football author Jim Keoghan shares Anthony Gordon transfer verdict
Football author Jim Keoghan has shared his Anthony Gordon transfer verdict and believes Everton should take what they can for the forward and run.
It was reported by the Daily Mail on 20 January that Newcastle United are eyeing up Gordon for a potential move to St. James’ Park, with an approach set to be made.
Keoghan reckons this Gordon transfer echoes transfers of old from the Toffees like Ross Barkley to Chelsea and Francis Jeffers to Arsenal.
“This is Jeffers to Arsenal, Barkley to Chelsea, Rodwell to City,” said Keoghan on Twitter (January 21)
“Take the money and run.”
Completely agree.
Just like the transfers of old that Keoghan mentions above, Gordon like the Barkleys and Jeffers of the football world isn’t all that special.
A big-money move to a fellow Premier League club will likely prove this to be right and the Blues should cash in before his price plummets.
It just doesn’t look like the youngster wants to be involved in another relegation dogfight and for that reason alone Everton should part ways with him this month.
It’s always sad to see a bright young talent leave the team, especially one who has risen through the ranks as spectacularly as Gordon, but this is a transfer that needs to be done.
It will give the Blues some crucial transfer funds for the summer or even to make some late January bids if a deal was hurried up soon.
To be honest, if Newcastle does end up making a big-money bid, this one seems like an absolute no-brainer, like Keoghan said, take the cash and run.
