Everton target Chuba Akpom talks up Premier League aspirations amid transfer links

Everton appear to have been handed a transfer boost as their target Chuba Akpom has talked up his Premier League aspirations.

The former Arsenal attacker has been linked with a move to Goodison Park in January as Frank Lampard is keen on adding some firepower in the final third.

He’s been in good form this season, scoring 13 goals in 20 Championship games for Middlesbrough and he’s recently spoken about his future.

“I feel like this last year or two I’ve probably developed the most in my career,” Akpom told Sky Sports, via Teeside Live. “I’ve shown a willingness to learn and improve my game. I feel hungrier than ever before. You’re never too old to learn and grow.

“I want to play in the Premier League, it’s where the best play and it’s a dream I’ve always had.”

The chances of Middlesbrough getting promoted are surely not north of 50 per cent so Akpom will be taking a major gamble by snubbing any Premier League interest.

Instead, he must do whatever he can to move to Everton this month as the club needs him desperately and will find a way to start him week in and week out.

Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol claimed that the Toffees were eyeing Akpom as an option to address their attacking woes.

The 27-year-old nearly found himself released from the Riverside, but his impeccable form has caught the attention of sides in the Premier League and Everton could come in with an official bid soon.
