Journalist calls out Everton board after West Ham defeat
Peter Guy has called out the Everton board for their running of the club after they suffered yet another defeat to West Ham.
Visiting the London Stadium on 21 January, the Toffees lost 2-0 to the Hammers which put them in further relegation trouble.
Frank Lampard’s job is on the line and he watched his side put in yet another dismal performance with the pressure surely growing.
Via Twitter, Guy, who is a freelance journalist and has worked at the Daily Mirror and Liverpool Echo, wrote, “In a relegation fight, desperate for points, Everton never turned up & were easily brushed aside. Spiritless, gutless, truly woeful, the players looked defeated before a ball was kicked. Lampard certain for the sack. Over to the cowardly Board to wield the axe once again. Abject.”
Major change needed
While it’s unlikely given the history of football, Everton need their manager, board and owner changing at the same time.
It’s toxic from the top to the bottom and it feels like there’s nothing that can be done to change the fortunes of the club.
Sacking Lampard will only bring in another manager working under the same structure and it would be career suicide for any up and coming manager to take the job.

While the Toffees are going into a new stadium, there is not the kind of excitement that there usually would be.
Farhad Moshiri’s popularity is surely at an all-time low with the fans and surely they cannot wait to see the back of him.
He even went on to say that sacking Lampard is not his decision which is really surprising given the fact that he’s the owner of the club.
If for once, he’s letting the footballing people make the footballing decisions, then it makes sense, but with Moshiri we can never be too sure.
