Alan Myers: Marcelo Bielsa interested in Everton manager job
Journalist Alan Myers has reported that former Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa is interested in the vacant manager’s job at Everton and is the club’s number one target.
Frank Lampard was sacked by the Toffees on 23 January after a string of woeful results that has left Everton in the dreaded Premier League drop zone.
Now, the hunt is on to find Lampard’s successor and it seems the reliable journalist Myers believes that Bielsa could be the man to take over the reins at Goodison Park.
“Bielsa is No:1 target and is interested in taking the job,” said Myers on Twitter. (23 January, 10:52 PM)
With fixtures against Arsenal and Liverpool on the horizon, the Toffees need to get their act together and appoint a new manager quickly.
Bielsa is the exact kind of manager the Blues squad needs right now and the intense Argentine’s relentless training methods are what these Everton players need.
Playtime would be over with Bielsa and he wouldn’t stand for the lacklustre performances that some of these Toffees players have put in recently.
He’s definitely the best name on the list so far and his attacking brand of football ties in perfectly with what a traditional Everton team should play like.
So let’s not wait around and get this one over the line quickly, if Bielsa is keen to join the absolute mess that is the Everton job right now, then hand him the keys to Finch Farm immediately.
He’s become renowned for getting the absolute most out of mediocre players and would give Everton some form of identity on the pitch back.
The jury seems to be out on Bielsa, but there are much worse options on the market with far less of a ceiling than the former Leeds United man.
