Ellis Simms Everton future in doubt after Frank Lampard sacking with Sunderland keen on transfer
Everton forward Ellis Simms is reportedly facing an uncertain future at the club after the sacking of Frank Lampard earlier this week.
According to the Northern Echo [25 January], Sunderland are keen on signing the 22-year-old who spent the first half of the season on loan there.
He was recalled at the start of January by Lampard, but his sacking now leaves his immediate future up in the air.

Loan him out
Everton certainly need a striker that can guarantee them goals this season but it does not seem like Simms is going to be one of them.
He’s currently operating at a Championship level and it makes sense for him to spend the rest of the campaign in that division.
At the Stadium of Light, Simms got regular game time and that’s important for a player at his age as you tend to progress better the more you play.

Should Everton decide to keep him, he will only be a backup option and will be lucky if he gets to play in more than five games from now until the end of the season.
The new manager will certainly need to make a decision on this and that needs to be announced quickly as time is running out in the transfer window.
Sacking Lampard with just days to go before deadline day was not the wisest move by Farhad Moshiri as he clearly did not have any replacement lined up.
