Everton midfielder Amadou Onana rejects transfer proposal from Chelsea

Everton midfielder Amadou Onana has reportedly rejected a transfer proposal from Chelsea as he plans to stay put at Goodison Park.

According to Nieuwsbladsport journalist Pieter-Jan Calcoen, the London outfit wanted to lure the Belgian from Merseyside amid the uncertainty at the club.

However, while he has turned down their approaches, it is understood that a late twist in this saga cannot be ruled out.

Via Twitter, Calcoen wrote, “Chelsea made a proposal for Onana. The Red Devil has rejected that. He wants to focus on #EvertonFC, it can be heard, but no one dares to rule out a late twist.”

Fighting for the jersey

It’s evident that Onana wants to fight for the jersey and do whatever he can to keep the Toffees up as they’re fighting a relegation battle.

Chelsea would’ve been an exciting prospect as they’re building a new team under a new owner and manager but Onana is not one to get distracted.

He has fit in very well at Goodison Park and it seems like it will take something special for any club to sign the Belgium international this month.

Everton

Hopefully, whoever the new manager is, they can manage to bring the best out of him as he’s certainly someone who a team can be built around.

It is understood that even Arsenal and Newcastle are keeping tabs on the player and will look to sign him if he’s willing to leave Everton.

Thus far, there does not seem to be anything coming from the player’s side suggesting that an exit might be on the cards, but all of that could change soon.
