Everton shareholder makes Wayne Rooney admission over Goodison Park managerial vacancy
Everton shareholder Mike Perry accepts that Wayne Rooney will not become the next manager of the club and Sean Dyche will be a perfect fit.
The Toffees are in the process of appointing their next manager following the sacking of Frank Lampard.
Marcelo Bielsa and Rooney have been discussed as potential candidates, but Sky Sports report on Friday (27 January) that Dyche is firm favourite to become the next manager at Goodison Park.
Writing on Twitter, Perry suggests that Dyche would be a good fit as he is a “proven winner”.
“Ok folks, I’ve accepted now that Wayne Rooney will not become the next manager of the mighty Everton. So now in my opinion it’s got to be Sean Dyche. He’s a battler and a proven winner. Let’s hear it from the coach who can bring us back from the oblivion,” wrote Perry on Twitter.
Good choice
Dyche did a terrific job at Burnley and there’s no reason to believe why he can’t do it again for Everton.
While Bielsa may appear as a glamorous figure, he probably is not suited for the job right now.
Everton are 19th in the league table at the moment, and pragmatism is necessary. The club need to get out of the relegation zone and safety is the first priority.

The results need to improve and it doesn’t matter how they get it. If Dyche can get Everton points by playing ugly, it is still acceptable for the time being.
There will be room for improvements going forward, but at the moment Dyche seems a perfect fit. He has been out of management for some time now and he will be keen to get back to work again.
It will be interesting to see if Dyche can sign a few players before the end of the window. There is uncertainty over the future of Anthony Gordon as well, but Dyche could persuade him to stay put amid interest from Newcastle.
