Marcelo Bielsa to bomb Anthony Gordon straight out of Goodison Park with Everton appointment on the cards

Anthony Gordon’s future at Everton has certainly been a talking point amongst the Goodison Park faithful in recent days.

Newcastle United are eying a late move for the 21-year-old and The Guadian’s Fabrizio Romano has suggested (via Twitter, 27 January) that Gordon is actively trying to force his way out of the club. However, Gordon could be immediately moved on if Marcelo Bielsa fills the managerial vacancy.

The Telegraph’s Matt Law suggested (personal Twitter account, 26 January) the former Leeds boss has held talks with the club’s hierarchy over the past week as he assesses whether to take the job at Goodison Park.

Bielsa is known for being a hard taskmaster and a well-respected figure across the football world. If he is to be the. new Everton manager, he will not legislate for players to act in the way Gordon has. He made snap decisions on a number of Leeds players and the same could happen to Everton’s wantaway star.

Sky Sports reported Kaveh Solhekol has suggested (27 January) the 21-year-old has missed three days of training at Finch Farm as he looks to push through a move to the North East.

However, Gordon should be allowing the two clubs to negotiate whilst he continues to be professional in how he handles the situation. It’s believed Everton want £55million for the winger and that the Magpies believe the price is too high at the moment.

If Bielsa does take the job, he will not want players such as Gordon in and around his squad. The Argentine will want players who are good characters and completely invested in the way he wants to play. It will be interesting to see how Gordon’s future and Everton’s manager search progress over the next couple of days.
