Alan Myers shares Everton transfer update amid links to Southampton striker Che Adams and Coventry City ace Viktor Gyokeres

Everton are reportedly likelier to sign Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres than Southampton forward Che Adams this month.

According to Sky Sports’ Alan Myers, the Sweden international appears to be a likelier prospect than bringing in Adams from their fellow relegation rivals.

The Toffees are understood to be looking for a new striker in January despite the sacking of Frank Lampard and ahead of Sean Dyche’s imminent arrival.

Myers responded to a tweet asking him about the interest in Adams, saying, “I think Gyokeres is more likely.”

Good move?

Gyokeres has hit the mark this season in the Championship and has been one of the division’s best players in front of goal.

He has bagged 12 goals and provided two assists which have been pivotal in keeping Coventry away from the relegation zone.

However, given the interest in his services from a Premier League side, he would perhaps find it too hard to turn down a move.

Everton

Coventry are not among the contenders to secure promotion and even if they were, they wouldn’t be an established top-flight team.

Everton, despite their recent struggles, are a Premier League mainstay and they will soon be moving into a new stadium and that’s a big sell to players thinking of moving to the club.

It’s understood that a lucrative contract is in the works for Gyokeres and it’s now down to the Toffees to tempt him to move away from the club.

They will surely offer him regular first-team football and better wages than what a mid-table Championship club can.
